BIO
The band has evolved, fallen apart, re-invented itself, imploded, and gone through lots of face lifts as members made choices - some went the safe route (9 to 5s), some went off to school - some fell through the black hole of life. There is always one consistency, brothers John Velsor (guitar/songerwriter) and his brother Thomas Velsor (bassist extraordinare).
The Relative Funktion has added their newest loyal member (singer/songwriter) Rob Lettis.
Together with the guidance of producer/manager Gary Planken, they have recorded their first CD “Ethereal Plaza,” filled with classic rock guts and guitar blazing/refreshing vocal sounds of rock-punk-reggae-soul/gospel, it's an eclectic mix that you usually find with older, more seasoned musicians, but these are a group of young (talented beyond their years) musicians - who are not afraid to stretch it - to explore it - to venture into the many sounds that make up the world of music.
“Don't box us in,” let us have fun and let the fans decide if they want to take the journey with us, not some bean counters. We have digital cameras and we have digital recording tools to let us do what we choose, and we have many outlets, like the rest of today's musicians.
There are many ways to make a living today without having to compromise your soul, your core beliefs, and that's what we will do, what we are doing.
It's all about the fans of the music, nothing more - nothing less.
we have this custom guitarist, a great singer - and a schooled bass player. Nothing can stop us but the ego of believing ohhhh you're so coool - and the division that kind of thinking creates.
Staying focused on the music, the people who like our music and the reason we want to create music, is our main focus.
Of course, we want everyone to love our music, but that's not gonna happen.
For those who don't, they'll find what they like... For those who do ... we appreciate it, and we won't let you down.
